When Lexie Proceller walks into a room, the first thing she notices is color. "Color exhibits feel," Proceller said over coffee at the Lunch Box. "Certain colors are power colors, certain colors are warm colors. All colors have a certain emotion attached to it."
As a professional interior designer and architectural consultant, Proceller has an eye for detail and a nose for a bargain. Her clients range from high-end corporate accounts to traditional family settings.
"I'm all about function. It's not about spending a lot of money. I want things that work," she said. During the holidays, Proceller is offering a special service to help decorate for parties. She said that given the chilly economic climate, she's willing to wave the consulting fee and charge only for labor and materials. She also offers one-time consultations that provide quick-fix solutions for clients on a budget.
Originally from New York City, Proceller moved to Weston 12 years ago with her husband, Bill. Her fascination with design erupted when she traveled to Rome in college to take art and architecture classes. She then earned a master's degree in architecture and blended her acquired knowledge with a natural inclination toward design. Her mother was an interior designer as well.
She advises people to not be afraid of colors. "Some people tend to be timid when it comes to color," she said. "But if you don't like it, you can always paint over it. ... I tell people if they have kids, to start there. ... The colors they choose might be a little bold, but once you get it up there you might say, 'Hey, this doesn't look so bad.'"
When she's not arranging plates on a silk tablecloth or redesigning an entire house, she plays tennis, exercises and practices yoga. She also volunteers for the Weston Women's League, the middle school PTA and the Weston Water Wizards swim team.
