Warm Up With Good Eats in Westport This Weekend

WESTPORT, Conn. – Wondering what to do this weekend? Here's a look at some of the many events happening in Westport over the next two days:

Saturday, Feb. 4

? 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Enjoy a pancake breakfast with your family, without lifting a finger. The Westport Weston Family Y Water Rat Swim Team is inviting the public to its 18th annual Pancake Breakfast at Christ & Holy Trinity Church, 75 Church Lane. Enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee/tea/hot chocolate for just $5 per person, $3 for kids 5 and under. Proceeds benefit the Water Rat Y National Team.

? 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Sample more than 30 varieties of soups, bisques and chowders from 24 area restaurants during Chowdafest IV at Bedford Middle School, 88 North Ave. Not only do participants get to fill themselves with all the chowder than can eat, they also get to be the judges. Admission is $6 for adults, $2 for kids under 12. Proceeds will be donated to the Connecticut Food Bank.

? 2:30 p.m.: Once you've had your fill of food, why not go on a brisk winter walk at Earthplace ? Take a trail walk with Earthplace naturalist Pete Fraboni and learn how to identify trees in winter by their bark, branches and shape.

? 4 p.m.; 8 p.m.: Catch a performance of "Almost, Maine," an award-winning romantic comedy at the Music Theatre of Connecticut , 246 Post Road E. Set in a remote town in northern Maine, the play is described as a cross between "Northern Exposure" and "Six Feet Under." Performances are Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. through Feb. 19. Tickets are $25 to $45 ($5 off for seniors/students, subject to availability). ? 5 p.m.; 8:30 p.m.: The Westport Woman's Club is hosting Broadway and Jazz Classics, the first event in its Waiting in the Wings Cabaret series. The evening will feature York City performers Andi Alhadeff and Andrew Keltz, who'll perform a range of classic and new arrangements. Patron tickets are $35 and include dining dollar certificates redeemable at community partner restaurants. General tickets are $25. All proceeds benefit the Westport Woman's Club Scholarship Program. Sunday, Feb. 5

? 1:15 to 4 p.m.: Kick off your Sunday at the town's sixth-annual Super Bowl Tailgate Party at the Westport Senior Center, 21 Imperial Ave. The party will feature classic tailgating food and snacks, drinks, contests and giveaways. The event is free and open to adults and kids of all ages.
