Although summer may be over, memories of the season will last a lifetime for Tamlyn Smith, a tutor at the Westport Public Library.
A junior at Cheshire Academy, this 16-year-old Milford resident and precalculus tutor, can reflect on many fond memories from this summer.
"I went to Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and France," the teen-tutor said.
As part of the People to People Student Ambassador Program, Tamlyn was immersed in European culture for three weeks. And though she enjoyed the entire trip, the time she spent in Italy was most memorable.
"There was a lot I liked but probably walking around the streets of Venice, taking gondola rides, and seeing the Sistine Chapel, were some of my favorites," she said.
And while her summer was fun, she said she's looking forward to the school year, especially Junior Prom.
For Elle Vail, a 4-year-old kindergartner at Saugatuck Elementary in Westport, picking one favorite summer memory was tough. But what was something she really enjoyed?
"Going to a birthday party someone invited me to," Elle said with a smile.
Gigi Miguel, Elle's nanny since June, most enjoyed spending a day at Beardsley Zoo with Elle.
"She really loves animals, so it was a lot of fun to go there with her," said Gigi, 28.
Since Elle started school Wednesday, she and Gigi are looking forward to the upcoming academic year and season.
"Working with her and helping her with school is what I'm looking forward to," Gigi said.
Elle, on the other hand, is looking and thinking ahead to October.
"I'm excited for Halloween," Elle said. "I got my treat bag, and I'm going to be a Spider Queen!"
