Joining him were Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe. Joining them were spouses Lucia Rilling, Judy Martin and John Stevenson.
He said there is a luncheon that takes place with local mayors and first selectmen but without their spouses being present.
"It just came to me that we ought to be good neighbors and invite them," he said. "We have something that we are so proud to have."
Rilling said he's been to Alive@Five events in the past and enjoys the scene. However, he didn't forget to put a plug in for his own city.
"I love the Columbus Circle area," Rilling said. 'It's a thriving area, it's flourishing as is our downtown area in South Norwalk that is starting to grow and to flourish."
He said South Norwalk
"We all share the same issues and we all want our communities to grow and develop but we want to make sure it happens the right way," Rilling said.
Westport's Marpe also put a plug in for his town's Levitt Pavilion which is also host to outdoor activities. He said the invitation allows he and the other leaders are able to get together, enjoy cultural activities and great food.
"It's great to see how each town and city does these things and the good news is that we get to be outside and hear good music and enjoy great food," Marpe said. "Every now and then it's good together with my peers and colleagues and enjoy each other's company."
Stevenson said she enjoyed the evening.
"I'm so excited to see how successful the City of Stamford is in bringing the community together for these cultural activities," Stevenson said. "It's very impressive and I am so pleased to be invited by the mayor this evening."
But who was going to pick up the check?
"We'll find that out when the bill comes," Marpe joked.
Martin had invited Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei and New Canaan First Selectman Robert Mallozzi but they weren't able to attend he said.
