STAMFORD, Conn. — One day after up to six inches of snow fell, the sun was shining as hundreds made their way to downtown Stamford for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
“We are blessed with sunny and warm weather today,” the parade’s Facebook page said.
Joining Stamford’s John Wayne Fox, who served as this year’s grand marshal, in the parade were local elected officials, school marching bands, Girl Scouts, firefighters, pipe bands, Irish dance schools and area police officers. They were on foot, on motorcycle, on horseback and in special operation vehicles.
The paradegoers, mostly donned in green and shamrocks, hovered near the bars and restaurants along Atlantic and Bedford streets. Many also flocked to the Hibernian Hall, which is near the end of the parade route.
