"A Grand Night for Singing" will entertain locals for three grand nights of singing at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Weston. The musical review is a tribute to American composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II , whose work has entertained Broadway audiences for decades.
The show, which runs from Nov. 12 to Nov. 14 will feature famous musical hits from "The Sound of Music," "South Pacific," "The King and I," "Cinderella," "Oklahoma," "Carousel" and many others. Professional and semiprofessional actors from the area, including Stamford's Todd and Lisa Caporizzo, New Canaan's Beth Green-Schwartz and Jeff Jones, Milford's John Cogdon, Norwalk's Rosalind Cormier, Ridgefield's Shannon-Courtney Egan and Shelton's Tom Denihan, will grace the stage.
A children's choir known as the Shiny Little Stars will also be featured in the show. Todd Caporizzo, director of music ministry and cantor at St. Francis, is producer and director for "A Grand Night for Singing." Howard Kilik will be music director and accompanist.
"This musical revue will highlight the iconic collaborations of Rodgers and Hammerstein, which are universal in their appeal," said Caporizzo. "The show is a tribute to the genius and insight of the Rodgers and Hammerstein team; they were truly ahead of their time."
Performances on Friday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov. 13, will begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6. Doors will open at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, for a 3 p.m. show. Audiences are encouraged to bring food and beverages for the cabaret-style table setting.
Tickets are $35 each for adults at each show. On Sunday, tickets are $25 for audience members age 5 to 17. You may make reservations, but tickets are also available for sale at the door. Call the box office at 203-451-8239 or email for ticket information.
