It's never too late to build a snowman in Westport. Russian jewelry-maker Igorv Kuznetsov and artist Dominique Gervais took the time to erect three snow people beside the Westport Library.
The library's director of development, Cindy Clark, added a few Mardi Gras beads to prepare the ice creatures for a Friday library event, which will take place from 8 to 10 p.m. "We're celebrating the resilience of New Orleans and community spirit," Clark said. "They have a lot in common with Westport."
Clark said Westporters are community-oriented and care about their neighbors, an ethic shared by New Orleans folks. The library event was inspired by the book "Zeitoun," which examines life in New Orleans before and after Hurricane Katrina.
Hopefully, the snow people will hang out long enough for Friday's party.
