The following is a message from state Rep. John T. Shaban, a Republican who represents Easton, Redding and Weston.
I have been in continuous contact with CL&P and UI regarding the status of their repair efforts. While the initial response efforts seemed appropriate, the rate of progress appears, to me at least, to be slowing a bit. Easton is still near 60 percent out, with estimates from UI well into next week. Weston and Redding are creeping along a bit faster with CL&P estimating Redding at 40 percent out and Weston at 55 percent out; full power should be restored by Tuesday.
I have and will continue to express my concern with the pace of the repairs, and continue to demand improved/continuous communication from the utilities. Obviously, they are overwhelmed. Still, once the pieces are picked up we will review the response by both the utilities and the varying government agencies to see what has and has not worked.
For now the focus has to be on power restoration and to help those who are still without power. Easton, Weston and Redding have assets in place to provide food, water, shelter, showers and information to those in need. Again, you should contact your town hall, police department and/or senior center for information.
Finally, here are the power outage status links for CLP and UI. These are frequently updated and appear to be generally accurate.
