See Distinctive Puppet Shows At The Westport Country Playhouse

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Two non-traditional puppet shows are coming to the Westport Country Playhouse as well as a romantic comedy play in January and February.

On Sunday, Jan. 19, “Dino-Light" will light up the darkness with its "glowing electroluminescent creatures".

The cutting-edge blend of puppetry, technology, and dance is produced by CORBIAN Visual Arts and Dance, in collaboration with Lightwire Theater, semi-finalists on “America’s Got Talent.” 

Tickets are $20. Shows are at 1 and 4 p.m. It is recommended for ages five and older.

Puppets will also bring a new take on the Sleeping Beauty tale in “Sleeping Beauty Dreams", a re-imagining of the famous princess as an overprotected daughter looking for a way to break free of her castle walls in order to search for true love.

The contemporary take on the classic story, using hand-crafted puppets, is a U.S. premiere, co-commissioned with the Kennedy Center and Marionetas de la Esquina.

Tickets are $20. It is recommended for ages five and older. Shows are also at 1 and 4 p.m.

Finally, on Feb. 10 the Playhouse presents a Script in Hand Playreading of “Mary, Mary” by Jean Kerr. Tickets are $15. “Mary, Mary” is a romantic comedy focusing on recently divorced Mary and Bob, who meet to sort out some tax matters when a Valentine’s Day snowstorm traps them in his apartment with their lawyer, a handsome film hero, and Bob’s young and wealthy fiancé.
