WESTPORT, Conn. Richard "Dick" Nevin Webb of Westport died at his home on April 18 surrounded by family. He was 80.
Webb was born July 13, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of the late Leslie and Laura Dietrich Webb. A graduate of Brown University, Webb was a US Navy veteran. He worked in several capacities for Esso Corporation in Brazil and Argentina.
He was fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Later, he moved his family back to the U.S. and worked with Continental Can Corporation of New York City and Stamford. Webb was a Little League championship team manager, New York Giants and Mets fan, avid golfer and staunch Republican.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Payne Webb and a daughter, Jennifer Webb. He is survived by his wife, Joan Frazier Webb; a daughter, Christy Webb-Gibson, of Vancouver, Canada; a son, Richard Webb Jr., of Westport; three brothers, William Y. Webb, of Devon, Pa., John Webb, of Toronto, Canada and Daniel Webb, of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday at Greens Farms Congregational Church in Westport. Harding Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
