Wells Hill Farm, located at 43 Wells Hill Road in Weston, focuses on sustainability and the best organic growing practices. The farm grows produce on one-third of the farm and uses the rest of the 13 acres to house two mobile chicken coops, one goat/sheep house and rabbit hutches. Admission is $5.
Dirt Road Farm Chef's Garden, located at 71 Newtown Turnpike in Weston, is a working garden run by Phoebe Cole-Smith and her husband, Mike. She is a private farm-to-table chef who uses the chickens, maple syrup and other organic food grown and maintained on the farm for her cooking.
The Smiths also grow edible flowers to use in her cooking, such as sunflowers, marigolds, daylilies, nasturtiums, violets, Johnny-jump-ups, calendula and lavender. Admission is $5.
Pamela Page's garden at Ho Hum Hollow Farms, located at 200 Chestnut Ridge Road in Bethel, grows heirloom fruits, flowers and vegetables from around the world—Indian snake gourds, African-horned cucumbers, giant Sicilian summer squash and okra from India, Asia and Kentucky. Dwarf fruit trees, dahlias, herbs, flowering shrubs and edible hedges complete Page’s garden. Admission is $5.
