WESTON, Conn. Deirdre Doran, a screenwriter in Weston, found herself scouting talent in an unlikely place as she watched the actors in Play with Your Food on July 12 perform in one-act plays.
"I'm interested in some of the actors for film. We're so lucky to have this quality of actors and writers in the area," said Doran.
Play With Your Food included lunch, provided by Peter's Market; three one-act plays; and a discussion with the actors. The Friends of the Weston Library hosted the performance at the Weston Public Library community room.
The actors said they had rehearsed each play only once or twice before performing together Tuesday. The audience watched as the actors showed the process of putting on a play and discovered the piece at the same time the actors did, said Director Kate Katcher.
"Looking over your heads, did you have any trouble seeing what they're looking at? It doesn't all have to be put on your lap," said Katcher.
