Colorful perennials and annuals will brighten the day at the Easton Garden Club's Annual Garden Mart next month.
A Garden Mart highlight is the selection of more than 600 perennials in 6-inch to 1-gallon pots, affordably priced from $2 to $10. Perennials, locally grown by garden club members, are hardened off and zone appropriate. Arranged by season, the perennial selections include flowers, ground covers and hostas, as well as shrubs and even some trees.
Colorful hanging baskets, Mother's Day gift plants and an assortment of rare and hard-to-find annuals and perennials will augment the large assortment of perennials from club members' gardens. Obtained from specialty growers, annual and perennial selections include unique hellebore, heuchera and coleus, among others. All will be offered at competitive prices.
A number of Easton's farmers will be selling their agricultural products. Many of the local farms that traditionally participate are featured on the Easton Farm Map, launched by the Easton Garden Club in 2009 and updated for 2011. A baked goods booth will be stocked with pies, cakes, cookies, brownies and breads all homemade by club members.
The event will be on Easton's Firehouse Green at Sport Hill and Center roads on Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Garden Mart is a rain or shine event, and admission is free.
