It's not often that Westport's Main Street becomes a community party zone. But in kicking off the Westport Downtown Merchants Association monthlong Art About Town event, the normally car-filled street was closed to traffic and transformed into a block party Thursday night.
The sound of live music, laughter and chatter filled the air as hundreds of visitors strolled along Main Street. In place of cars, circular tables and chairs were set up on the street for outdoor dining. A variety of street performers, from stilt walkers to dancers, wowed the crowd, and a number of artists showed off their skills.
During Art About Town, works of art by local artists will be on display, and for sale, at 55 downtown shops until June 26.
