Operation Thank You, a project in conjunction with the non-profit organization Operation Gratitude, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Norwalk Historical Society Museum. This free event will educate the community about King's life, as well as provide an outlet for children and adults to further his message of peace and love by writing thank you letters and cards for the country's first responders.
“Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” These words, once spoken by King, serve as inspiration for the project. Operation Gratitude will collect the letters and cards and distribute them as part of care packages sent to first responders throughout the country. In addition to the service project, children will get the opportunity to hear a story and participate in an activity about King's famous, “ I Have a Dream” speech.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. If the event is canceled due to inclement weather, it will be rescheduled for Sunday, Jan. 21. The Norwalk Historical Society Museum is located at 141 East Ave. The front entrance is accessible from the Norwalk City Hall parking area at 125 East Ave.
