The band consists of Chris Yerinides on vocals and guitar, Danen Saviano on rhythm guitar, Stephen Vermilyea on bass and Gavin Pomerantz on drums. The band’s first EP, “Fraternal” will be released on July 21, and they will celebrate with a live show at Sparks Sports Grill in Norwalk on July 25.

Counting Led Zeppelin and Foo Fighters among the band’s influences, Yerinides said that Crown Colony is all about being raw and high energy in their performances.

“I love to run out into the crowd while I’m playing,” Yerinides said. “We want to get people involved and moving. It’s supposed to be fun. We’re entertaining people.”

They sought to replicate that sound on “Fraternal” by recording the entire album live in the studio, without special effects or enhancements.

“It’s really raw. We were all fed up with the overproduced, non-authentic mainstream style that’s so popular,” Yerinides said. “We want it to sound like who we really are.”

Yerinides, Saviano and Vermilyea are all from Norwalk and Pomerantz is from Weston. All four are in their early to mid-20s and have played together in various capacities for years. Since coming together as Crown Colony, they have played shows all around Connecticut, with shows in Long Island and Manhattan as well. Yerenides has been heavily involved in the local music scene for a number of years.

“There are so many good musicians around here that I’ve played with or seen. The community’s really great, everybody supports one another,” he said.

The band wanted to continue to foster that sense of community when creating their new record. The album was produced by Kol Ratner of Weston, the band’s photography is by Nina Raffio of Norwalk, and their T-shirts and merchandise were designed by Don Virgilio of Norwalk.

“It’s nice to be able to pull in all these incredibly talented people in the area to create one really awesome product. It’s one of my favorite things about putting out this new album,” Yerinides said.

After the release of “Fraternal” the band wants to continue to work on new songs, develop their live performances and play more shows and festivals. Yerinides said he hopes to put out a vinyl album and do a tour of the northeast.

“We never want to settle or be complacent. We always want to be pushing the boundary and going further.”
