To enter, email a short essay about why your dog deserves this esteemed honor with a photo attached. Then visit the website and click on "Donate" to make a $10 donation.
You may also mail your essay with a picture and $10 check, made out to WASA, to Westport Animal Shelter Advocates, 1 Tower Ridge, Westport, CT 06880.
Top finalists will receive doggie swag bags donated by Earth Animal, a retailer of pet care products. The winner will be awarded Westport’s Top Dog for 2014 and have his or her photo added to the Top Dog Hall of Fame in the Town Hall.
The deadline for submission is Feb. 1, 2014. Judging will take place during the first week of February with the Ribbon Ceremony occurring in the auditorium of Westport Town Hall on Feb. 6.
Confirmed judges are Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe, Town Clerk Patricia Strauss, and Christian H. Benyei, chief technical officer at Schulhof Animal Hospital. An additional judge will be named in the near future.
