National Spotlight Finds Greenwich Native Working As Trump Spokeswoman

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Almost by accident, Greenwich native Hope Hicks has found herself on the front lines, working for Donald Trump in his bid to become president of the United States.

Hicks, 27, was profiled recently in the New York Times. She is the spokeswoman for the presumptive Republican nominee, who will race against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the race for president. She has also been profiled in The Washington Post, GQ and a host of other national publications.

Hicks' ascent is startling. The former teen model and lacrosse standout at Greenwich High also played the sport at the club level at Southern Methodist. She worked at Hiltzik Strategies, a powerful public relations firm that represents Hollywood clients and corporate executives. She went to work for Ivanka Trump, Donald's daughter, and her luxury jewelry lines and Trump's real estate holdings. She was asked to join the campaign staff in early 2015.

She had no political experience before the campaign, and her job duties include helping Trump tweet, according to The Washington Post. Hicks takes dictation from Trump for his tweets, then sends them to someone else in the Trump organization to actually tweet, the Post reported.

Hicks father and grandfather also worked in public relations. Paul B. Hicks III was the right-hand man of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and also worked as the CEO for Ogilvy Public Relations as their U.S. lead. Her late grandfather, Paul Hicks, was a vice president and general manager of public relations for Texaco.

In the New York Times story, Trump said Hicks would definitely have a role if he wins the presidency. Could she be his press secretary. "I don’t want to comment on that,” Trump told the paper. “It’s too early. I don’t want to be making those prognostications yet. But she’ll certainly be involved with us. She’s terrific.”
