Meet Weston's Lifeguard: Zach Galasinski

WESTON, Conn. -- Zach Galasinski not only looks out for the safety of swimmers at Bisceglie Pond. He painted the three sheds at the pond one summer as his Eagle Scout project. Galasinski, a student at New York University, has been a lifeguard in Weston more than four years, since he was a sophomore in high school.

"I find helping others and enforcing safety is a rewarding experience," said Galasinski. In the fall, he will be a junior at NYU, where he is studying chemistry and has considered doing research in pre-pharmacy.

"[NYU] is fantastic. Classes are very challenging. It's in Manhattan, so I'm close enough to home - but I feel like I'm in a completely separate world," said Galasinski.

Galasinski also enjoys painting, drawing, reading and running. He has been painting since he was 3 years old and is trying to develop his own style.

He is one of the head guards at the pond and enjoys working outside.
