"It's a good job, it pays well and it teaches responsibility," said O'Brien, who is in his third year as a lifeguard at Bisceglie Pond and the pool at Weston Middle School.
Danny and his sisters, Becky and Sarah, are triplets who just graduated from Weston High School. The three will venture off to college together in the fall at UConn.
O'Brien plans to study business and might play intermural or club sports. He played football and lacrosse at Weston High School. He's looking forward to "doing well, playing sports and having fun" in the fall.
In his first year as a lifeguard, Danny helped save a child who was struggling in the pond. "I jumped in with another lifeguard and we grabbed him," he said.
He enjoys lifeguarding, he said, because he's close to the water when it's hot and because he's always liked lakes and ponds.
