Westport Synagogue Kicks Off 2014 Share The Pie Fundrasier

WESTPORT, Conn. – The 2014 Share the Pie fundraiser is under way, offering residents a chance to order Thanksgiving pies for families, friends, businesses or local shelters. The fundraiser is supported by the Conservative Synagogue of Westport, Weston, and Wilton as well as Homes with Hope.

The Share The Pie fundraiser allows residents to buy pies as gifts with proceeds benefiting Homes With Hope, which helps the homeless.

“We are so happy to be part of this fundraiser,” said Jen Kanfer, co-chair of the TCS Social Action Committee. “For over 10 years, Share the Pie has directly helped the hungry and homeless in our community. The money we raise from selling pies is donated directly to Homes with Hope. Share the Pie helps to increase awareness of homelessness in our community.”

Homes with Hope helps the homeless find housing and provides them with emergency shelter and meals as well as case work and supportive services.

The kosher pies are $22 each and are available in three flavors. The pumpkin is kosher dairy, and the pecan and apple pies are kosher pareve. The deadline to order pies is Monday, Nov. 17, by 5 p.m.

Pie orders can be placed through the Share the Pie secure website or by calling 203-454-4673.

The pies will be available to be picked up at the synagogue, on 30 Hillspoint Road in Westport on Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon and 4 to 7 p.m.

For more information about orders, email the synagogue’s Social Action Committee chairs Michelle Saunders at geckomom@optonline.net or Jennifer Kanfer at Jennifer-kanfer@yahoo.com.
