WESTPORT, Conn. The following letter was submitted by Westport resident Nancy Bromberg.
I grew up in Westport. Not only am I a product of our school system, I thought so highly of it that I moved back so my children could also benefit from a world-class public education. As a child, I took the beauty, services and schools of Westport for granted; as an adult, I appreciate the dedication and hard work that is required to make Westport the town that it is.
Today, Westport, like so many communities, is facing real financial hurdles. Our volunteers on the Board of Finance are in the unique position to tackle these issues and shape the future of Westport. In the past year, Tom Lasersohn has demonstrated that he is an invaluable member of the Board of Finance.
If you have ever attended a Board of Finance meeting, it would be difficult not to be impressed by Tom's depth of knowledge and willingness to ask the tough questions. He has an innate ability to process complex information and present it in layman's terms so that we can fully understand the issues at hand.
Tom is driven by a need to educate himself and all of those interested in learning; he deeply believes in transparency in all aspects of Westport's government. What I find most impressive about Tom is that after he makes it so easy to understand what a mess we are in, he doesn't waste our time pointing fingers or lamenting over the situation; he simply offers practical solutions that are attainable.
In both Tom's public discussion at Board of Finance meetings and in his votes, he has proven that he is committed to maintaining our stellar schools. For all of these reasons, I whole-heartedly support Tom Lasersohn for the Board of Finance.
