Parents who want their kids to have a grounded experience this summer might want to consider the camp at Sport Hill Farm . Children ages 10 to 14 can join "Farm Gal Patti" Popp at Junior Farmer camp, tending to crops and animals.
Theyll spend their days with Patti, learning how to work, manage and run a small farm. "Mud and dirt is par for the course," according to Popp, so she suggests campers wear work clothes appropriate for getting messy.
One session ran in June, but there are still two left, on Tuesday, July 20, and Tuesday, Aug. 24. Both run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the farm. There is a $25 fee.
The sessions can hold up to five kids per group, so sign up early by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
