John Seigenthaler's Favorite Things About Weston

WESTON, Conn. – Former network news anchor John Seigenthaler moved to Weston with his family in 2001 and says "it's a wonderful place to live."

As an anchor for NBC and MSNBC from 1996 to 2007, Seigenthaler covered such major events as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, the Indonesian tsunami and the Atlanta Olympic bombings. “I was fortunate to cover some of the biggest and most moving stories of the time, but they were also the most tragic,” he said.

Seigenthaler moved to Weston from New York City with his wife, Kerry Brock, who is also a former news anchor, and their son, Jack, a sophomore at Weston High School.

“We looked a long time before we found a place in Weston and landed in a community that welcomed us with open arms. We realized how unique and special it is,” he said.

“What makes it special is the community is full of interesting people. It’s centered around schools and families raising kids in a safe environment that really nurtures them.”

When asked if Weston provides enough privacy for a former network newscaster, Seigenthaler said, "The people of the community really treat everyone the same. Homes are on two-acre lots, but everyone knows everyone and sees each other at Peter’s Market, and the kids go to school together. It’s a warm, welcoming community, and you get involved as much or as little as you want.”

Seigenthaler served as master of ceremonies for the Alden Sherman Classic car show in Weston Sunday and has served on school committees and done pro bono work for charitable organizations in Connecticut.
