WESTPORT, Conn. Genevieve "Jean" Mary Logan, 102, a former Westport resident, died April 9 at home in San Francisco.
Logan was born Feb. 27, 1910, in the small fishing village of Melrose, Newfoundland, the eldest daughter of Anastasia and Nicholas Donovan. At the age of 20, she immigrated to Boston, to live with an aunt and work as a secretary. Logan later moved to New York City and worked for CBS and IBM.
In the early 1940s, she met Robert Bob Logan, a lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard. They married in 1943, and a short time after the war, their daughter Geraldine was born. The family lived in many different cities in the United States and abroad, including Palo Alto, Calif., Portland, Ore., Westport, London and the Hague.
While her husbands profession brought travel, Logan stayed busy as a loving wife, mother, homemaker and painter. Later in life, Logan and her husband moved to Malaysia, where she studied brush painting. They settled in San Francisco in 1973 and lived together happily until Bobs death in April 2005.
She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine Sjahsam; four brothers, Frank, Gerald, Tom and Philip; a sister, Helen; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Canada and the United States.
