Paper, markers, scissors, felt and glue were the materials 6-year-old Nea Hochman used to create her very own bear mask Saturday at Earthplace, Westport's nature discovery center. But perhaps most important, Nea used her imagination.
During the family-oriented "Bears Day" program, children and their parents, including Nea and her father Rick, not only got to create their own masks and other crafts, they also learned about real black bears. This included a visit to a "bear den" and instructions on how to track a bear.
But the highlight of the day was a teddy bear tea party at 2 p.m., when children got to spend some quality time with their favorite stuffed bear.
