Amick, who has lived in Westport, turns 45 on Saturday. The actress was born Dec. 12, 1970, in Sparks, Nev.
Amick made her first television appearance at the age of 19, as a shape-shifting alien in an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" in 1989.
She is best known for playing Shelly Johnson on the cult television series "Twin Peaks" and its 1992 prequel film "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me."
She has also appeared in TV movies such as "Love, Cheat and Steal" (1993).
In her film career she appeared in "The Borrower" (1991), and "Sleepwalkers" in 1992. A highlight of her film career is the 1994 feature film "Dream Lover," for which she received a nomination from the Saturn Awards for Best Actress.
She also appeared in "French Exit" (1995), "Bombshell" (1996), "Twist of Fate" (1998), "Scenes of the Crime" (2001) and "Priest" (2011).
She return to network TV in the fall of 1995 with the much-publicized CBS primetime soap opera "Central Park West " and gradually became a noticeable face in television with recurring roles on "Gilmore Girls," "ER," "Jake in Progress," "Joey," "Dawson's Creek" and "Gossip Girl."
In 2007, she had a lead role in the short-lived CBS musical series "Viva Laughlin" and played Danielle Marchetti on the FX series "Damages" in 2010.
She currently stars as Wendy Beauchamp in the Lifetime fantasy drama series "Witches of East End."
