WESTPORT, Conn. Get ready to "Listen to the Music," Westport. Three-time Grammy Award winners The Doobie Brothers will perform at the Levitt Pavilion on Thursday night for its annual summer gala.
Unlike the more than 50 free nights of entertainment provided at the Levitt, this concert is the second of two fundraising events, said Carleigh Welsh , director of marketing and communications at the Levitt. Proceeds from ticket sales help underwrite all the free programming, she said.
"It's an awesome opportunity to see talent like this in your own backyard while supporting a cultural treasure at the same time," said Freda Welsh , executive director of the Levitt.
The concert begins at 9 p.m. and will last 90 minutes, Carleigh said. Doobie fans can expect to hear some of the group's biggest hits from the past 40 years, including "Black Water," "China Grove," "Listen to the Music," and "Takin' it to the Streets." Songs from its newest album, "World Gone Crazy," will also be performed.
Tickets are $70 for patron seating and $95 for preferred seating. If you're looking for a more exclusive experience, benefactor tickets are available for $250. These tickets include seating in the premium section, access to the preconcert gala sponsored by Honda of Westport, and access to the after party. Chairs are provided for all ticket levels.
If you don't already have a ticket, it's not too late, Carleigh said. Tickets can be purchased on the Levitt Pavilion website , at the Levitt Pavilion office at 260 Compo Road S. from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by calling 866-973-9612, Ext. 3, until 2 p.m. Tickets will also be on sale at the pavilion gate starting at 7:30 p.m. Carleigh said a few benefactor tickets are also available. People interested in purchasing those can call 203-226-7600.
During the concert, cold beer and wine will be on sale for people 21 and over. No coolers will be allowed on the grounds except those small enough to fit under a folding chair, Carleigh said. For more information about the event, call 203-226-7600.
