Calling all parents: If you're looking for fun activities your kids can enjoy this weekend in Westport, look no further. From making scarecrows to art workshops, there's something both big and little kids can enjoy.
? Stop by the library at 10 a.m. to Jump for Joy with the Two Cat Band . This musical family program will be held in the McManus Room and is for children 5 and under, with an adult.
? For a fun family activity children of all ages will enjoy, head over to Earthplace between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. for Scarecrow Making Day. Just bring old clothes, a hat and a plastic gallon milk jug; Earthplace will supply everything else you'll need. Apple cider and snacks will also be provided. The event costs $8 per member child and $10 per nonmember.
? At the Westport Arts Center, there's a Super Saturday Workshop from 9 a.m. to noon where children can explore a variety of media and experiment with basic painting techniques. From 9 to 10:15 a.m., the workshop is open for children ages 5 to 8. From 10:30 a.m. to noon, the workshop is open for children ages 9 to 12. Individual workshops cost $25 for center members and $30 for nonmembers.
? The Westport Weston Family Y is hosting the Strong Kids Triathlon, which will be held at Staples High. It is open to big and little kids alike.
Starting at 8:30 a.m., there's a 150-meter swim, a 2.5-mile bike ride and 1-mile run for kids 10 and over. For 6- to 9-year-olds, there's a 75-meter swim, a 1.25-mile bike ride and a half-mile run that starts at 9 a.m. And for children ages 3 to 6, there's a 100-meter dash.
Check-in for all events starts at 7:30 a.m. The triathlon registration fee is $35 and the 100-meter dash fee is $10.
