Westport Broker Volunteers in Battle vs. Cancer

You might say Emmy Sarica has had a few turbulent years — they've included battles  she and her daughter have each waged with cancer and survived.

But the real estate agent at Higgins Group in Fairfield didn’t let that get in the way of finding her clients their dream homes through her organization, Emmy and Company, or giving back to those less fortunate.

“I feel blessed to be alive, to have a roof over my head and to be able to come home and have heat, water and food,” she said.

Sarica created Emmy and Company to offer her real estate clients in Fairfield, Westport and Easton a team of professionals who have experience in sales, marketing, consulting and real estate. That said, she is a firm believer in the strength of numbers — and it shows.

“A group of people together has more to offer than just one person,” Sarica said. “Everything does become a personal project for me, though.”

One of those projects involves giving back to the cancer community. Coming up is a Bowl-A-Thon that she and her Emmy & Company colleagues will host to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

The event will be held Sunday, May 20 at Nutmeg Bowl of Fairfield. Call Sarica for more information or to register a team at (203) 556-1608. And keep in mind, it pays to play--the top fundraiser for this year's Bowl-a-Thon will be rewarded with a Kindle Fire.

“We can’t just say we care about people. We have to show it. That’s why we are always looking for opportunities to serve,” she said.

When Sarica isn't working, she makes herself available to give advice to current cancer patients.
