The benefit will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, at Owen Fish Park, 1443 Stratfield Road.

All monies raised will go to Fairfield-based Save the Children’s Hurricane Maria Children’s Relief Fund, which has been on the ground helping children and families since Sept. 24.

“My heart breaks each time I hear another personal story from Connecticut residents on the devastation inflicted upon their homeland island of Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria,” said state Sen. Tony Hwang. “What gives me hope is not only the resiliency of the Puerto Rican community on the island and abroad, but the personal generosity of those across the country and right here in Fairfield County who are willing to give of themselves and lend a helping hand to the children of Puerto Rico.”

Candidates who will help at the fundraiser are those seeking election in districts 3 through 7. They are: Alex Durrell, Ron Drew, Robin Orriss, Diane Pagnozzi, Sol Briks, Frank O’Reilly, Roger Autuori, Sally Connolly, Andrew Semmel, Carol Way, Matt Boland, Shannon Bowley, Jason Li, Ray Neuberger, Tom McCarthy, Tom Keane, Alex Plitsas and Michael Mears.
