Easton Knits New Winter Programs

The Easton Community Center weaves its way into our hearts this month with a variety of family activities. Starting Thursday, Jan. 20, there’s a knitting class where you can learn the basics of threading a needle and more. You'll learn how to cast on, knit, pearl and cast off. All materials are included and will be on hand for the first day of class.

If pottery is your passion, the Community Center has your ticket on Thursday. The class will teach the fundamental techniques of throwing so you can create functional works such as pots and bowls. Stamping, carving and incising methods will be used to produce individualized pieces. Students will work at their own pace, and beginners are welcome. Final projects will be fired and glazed near the end of session.

Friday night looks to be full of games and prizes for the whole family. From 7 to 9 p.m., children will challenge each other with game show questions and activities such as musical hula-hoop, juke box eliminator and Simon Says. Then it's time to get your groove on with a few dances such as the Cha Cha Cha and the Cotton Eye Joe.

Also starting on Friday is a series of music and interactive activities with Lynn Lewis and friends. The class will provide live music as well as special guest appearances by Blue Clues, Elmo, Honey Bear and more.

For more information on these and other activities, contact the Easton Community Center at (203) 459-9700 or visit its website .
