EASTON, Conn. Tonight could be a battle of epic proportions as four area bands fight to knock the Pampalibros off their throne at the Easton Community Centers Battle of the Bands competition.
The Redding based band, the Pampalibros, won the competition last year and are defending their title tonight. But this isnt your normal band competition; all the performers must be students from local middle schools.
Im really excited about tonights event and I think a lot of people are going to be surprised on how good these kids actually are, said Easton Community Centers Youth and Teen Director, Billy Barrett. This night is a perfect chance for the community to come together and witness the young talent we have in our local area, he said.
Each band will be judged on a set list of 20 minutes, which is about four to five songs, Barrett said. First place winners of the battle will receive free studio time to record a song of their choice with the Easton-based SureSound Studios.
Besides the Pampalibros, the four other bands playing tonight will be The Nobodies from Easton, J.A.M. from Redding, Face Out from Monroe and Far From in Between from Fairfield.
This is the second Battle of the Bands competition and something that Barrett hopes will continue to grow, This is a great opportunity to get family and friends together, to come out and to listen to kids play some really good music. Its a family friendly environment, all the songs will be clean, no bad words, and we want to make it something where the whole family can come out and have a really good time.
The event will be held at the Easton Community Center, begins at 6 p.m., admission at the door is $5. For more questions about the Battle of the Bands, contact Billy Barrett at (203) 459-9700 or at firstname.lastname@example.org .
