Members of the community partnered with the Westport Parks and Recreation Department to put in a new fence surrounding the park, replace old safety fencing at the girls softball field, install a new backstop and make overall grounds improvements, said police Capt. Sam Arciola, president of Westport PAL.

The project is not yet complete, but the community is in the finishing phases of the overall improvements.

Donations for the softball field backstop and safety fence were made by Jeff and Sue White, Peter Romano, Al DiGuido and the Westport Police Athletic League (PAL).
