WESTPORT, Conn. Its official: Construction on the golf halfway house at Westports Longshore Club Park golf course begins this month. On Wednesday, First Selectman Gordon Joseloff and volunteers who led the fundraising effort for the project gathered on the course for a groundbreaking ceremony.
The 750-square-foot, farmhouse-style facility will feature a kitchen area with a grill, enclosed porch with tables and chairs, and handicap accessible bathrooms. It will replace the food trailer that has served as a temporary halfway house after the original halfway house structure was destroyed by a fire in 2003.
Construction is expected to take two to three months. The facility is anticipated to open in June.
