Chet Kaye, 70, Westport Manufacturing Director

WESTPORT, Conn. – Chester "Chet" J. Kaye of Westport died May 7 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 70.

Born Dec. 26, 1941, in Detroit, Kaye was a resident of Westport since 1983. He received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in finance from the University of Detroit. Kaye later received a master's degree in education from the University of Bridgeport.

His career included positions at ITT Corp., where he served as director of manufacturing cost controls and chief financial officer for summagraphics. Kaye also owned a dry-cleaning business in Stamford for 10 years. He went on to teach business classes at West Haven High School.

Kaye volunteered for Literacy Volunteers of America. He was also an active parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church, serving on the finance committee. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, was a Eucharistic minister and volunteered at the annual parish picnic. He enjoyed fishing, travel, reading and cooking.

He is survived by three daughters, Stacey Moody and husband Don of Naples, Fla., Corey Kaye of Westport, and Amanda Tiberio and husband Joe of Monroe; his mother, Regina Kosmalski of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; two brothers, Lawrence Kosmalski of East China, Mich., and Stephen Kosmalski, of Park Ridge, Ill.; a sister, Patricia Kosmalski of Granville, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Spear-Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fairfield. Burial will be private.
