WESTPORT, Conn. — Daryl Hawk, adventure traveler, photographer and documentarian, will be the Y’s Men’s featured speaker at its March 10 meeting at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road E., Westport.
Hawk has spent the last 30 years traveling alone to some of the world’s most remote locations, gathering material and creating striking exhibits that tell stories and remind us why we must protect our endangered wilderness areas.
He is a member of the New York City-based Explorers Club, a group dedicated to promoting the exploration of land, sea, air, and space, and a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and member of the Professional Photographers Association.
Hawk is a lecturer, travel writer and workshop instructor whose photographs appear in publications worldwide. He has been featured several times on NBC’s "Today" show and on Fox 5 Television.
As the former host and producer of the Cablevision show "The Unconventional Traveler," he brought his audience stories from some of the world’s leading explorers, adventurers and filmmakers, including Jane Goodall, Buzz Aldrin and George Schaller.
Hawk has also published four books. The newest, "Manhattan," presents the city in a color retrospective of 150 landscapes, buildings, and street scenes. He also runs Hawk Photography in Wilton, a full-service studio, specializing in wedding, portrait, corporate, editorial and advertising photography.
The Y's Men of Westport/Weston is an organization of retired and semi-retired men with a continued interest in activity, fellowship, learning and community service.
