The group's most recent recipient of money was Caroline House, a Bridgeport-based organization that empowers women and children to meet their potential through education in English language and life skills. It received $8,200 at the group's inaugural meeting March 10.
“The donation from 100+ Women Who Care seems like a gift dropped down from heaven.” said Peg Regan, executive director of Caroline House, in a press release. "This unexpected windfall will allow us to provide snacks, educational games and play equipment and craft supplies for our summer school program."
“It was an amazing, powerful experience,” the group's co-founder, Tracy Yost, said in a press release. “I felt so empowered, and so connected to the community.”
Yost co-founded the chapter with Wilton's Beth Kisielius in 2015.
With more than 200 chapters in the United States and Canada, 100+ Women Who Care was created as a charitable outlet for women who wanted to improve the lives of those living in their community.
Each member donates $100 per quarter and awards are given four times a year. Members of each chapter can nominate a local charity and three are drawn at random at each meeting. The nominating members make the presentation and the group selects the recipient.
“We could not be more excited with the response from women who are interested in learning about, and supporting local organizations that support those in need in our community” Kisielius said in a press release.
