WESTPORT, Conn. – The Whelk, Bobby Q’s, Tengda and Rizzuto’s are some of the Westport eateries that made Connecticut Magazine’s annual list of best restaurants in the state.
In compiling the list, the magazine had food bloggers, writers, cookbook authors and other food experts pick their favorite restaurants in 25 different categories. The top five restaurants in each category were named “best of,” and a list of honorable mentions in each category was also made.
The Whelk, a seafood restaurant and oyster bar located at 575 Riverside Ave., won the most honors, including best new restaurant and best seafood. It was an honorable mention for best overall restaurant and another honorable mention for best dessert.
Tengda Asian Bistro, 1330 Post Road E., was named one of the best Asian restaurants in the state. Matsu Sushi, 33 Jesup Road, won an honorable mention for best Asian. Both restaurants were among the honorable mentions for best sushi.
Bobby Q’s, 42 Main St., won best barbecue. Rizzuto’s, 540 Riverside Ave., was named one of the best restaurants for families. Oaxaca Kitchen, 376 Post Road E., made the list as one of the best Mexican/Latin restaurants.
Da Pietro’s, 36 Riverside Ave., won an honorable mention in the best Italian category while the Dressing Room, 27 Powers Court, was listed as an honorable mention in the best American and best brunch categories. Luxe Modern Wine & Cocktails at 194 Main St. was among the honorable mentions for best cocktails.
