WESTPORT, Conn. – Downtown Westport will be brimming with people and art on Saturday and Sunday during the 40th annual Westport Fine Arts Festival.
Organized by the Westport Downtown Merchants Association, the event will feature original works by 140 exhibiting artists, all of which will be available for purchase. But more than an art show, the event includes live entertainment in a variety of forms, food and children’s activities.
“The Westport Fine Arts Festival has remained a highlight for art lovers, families and anyone looking for a wonderful outdoor summertime experience in one of the prettiest downtown locations in the country,” Lee De Monico, WDMA's public relations director, said in a news release.
“People come from throughout New England and the tri-state area to enjoy live music, unique street performances, children’s activities and the opportunity to purchase unique, quality, original works of art,” he said
Works featured in the festival represent a wide range of artistic media, including painting, watercolor, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media and photography. Last year, glass, ceramics, fiber, jewelry, wood and digital art were added.
In addition to the art, festival-goers can enjoy live music and various street performers, including the famous festival mime. There will be five musical performances Saturday and four on Sunday.
For the kids, there will be face painting, balloon art, a magician and activity tent sponsored by the Westport Arts Center, featuring hands-on art activities.
To ensure festival-goers are happy on all fronts, food and refreshments will be provided by Westport restaurants and area vendors.
The festival is held along Parker Harding Plaza and Gorham Island, festival hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
