WESTPORT, Conn. Tune into Cablevision channel 28 this Friday night to see Westports Plumed Serpent Bridal on the TLC reality show I Found the Gown , which features brides searching for discount designer gowns.
The Plumed Serpent, an upscale bridal boutique thats been in Westport since the 1970s, is one of the many stores across the country that sells its older, sample gowns to the owners of Vows Bridal Outlet in Watertown, Mass., where the brides on the show go shopping.
Ive been working with the owners of Vows for more than five years and they called me up and said, It looks like we are getting a reality show and we want your store to be part of it,' said Alison Fischer, whos owned the Plumed Serpent for 13 years. I was so excited.
This past spring, Rick and Leslie DeAngelo, the owners of Vows, stopped by the Plumed Serpent to shop for sample gowns, like they have many times in the past. Only this time, there was a camera crew.
It takes a little getting used to, Fischer said of having a camera crew following her around, but I really just focused on talking to them [Rick and Leslie DeAngelo.]
Despite being nervous, Fischer said it was interesting to see how a reality television show is put together. The filming, she said, wasnt scripted. However, there were times she was asked to repeat something she said, but facing a different direction.
The episode airs at 10 p.m. Friday. Although Fischer is not sure how long her segment will be, she said shes looking forward to seeing the final product, and hopes the appearance will help bring in new customers.
This coming Monday at 11 a.m., Fischer also will be featured on NBC 30.
