Children can submit up to three concepts for interactive toys, action figures, games or their own original creations. Melissa and Doug Bernstein, founders of Melissa & Doug, will select finalists from the submissions.
The competition will culminate at Family Art Day on March 9 when finalists from three age groups (ages 5-6, 7-9, and 10-12) will be chosen to present their toy designs to a panel of judges.
Each toy designer will describe their inspiration, how their toy works and why it will be a successful toy, after which the judges will select the winners. Participants at Family Art Day will also vote for their favorite design.
First place winners will receive a private tour of the Melissa & Doug toy factory in Wilton, a gift certificate to Max’s Art Supplies and a scholarship to a Westport Arts Center Summer Camp of their choice.
Second and third place winners will receive a Melissa & Doug Toy Gift Basket, and the Audience Choice Award Winner will receive a gift certificate to Shake Shack.
All entries are due by Feb. 10. For more information on submitting, click here.
