Things Are Getting Hairy At Westport Police Department

WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport police officers will be growing beards this month and next to raise money and support for cancer research and awareness and a local organization that fights homelessness.

The Westport Police Department is taking part in No-Shave November, supporting the No-Shave November nonprofit, which raises money for cancer research, and Homes with Hope, a local charity that aids the homeless.

According to a statement from the department, the officers will be taking part in “No-Shave November” to raise money for the online nonprofit of the same name and Homes with Hope, a Westport-based organization.

“Last year, we were able to raise approximately $4,200 for cancer research,” said Westport Police Officer and PBA President Brendan Fearon.

Taking part in the fundraiser for the second year in a row, each of the officers has donated $75 to participate in the event, according to the department, which said that all money raised will be split between the two nonprofits.

“This is a great opportunity to build off of the enthusiasm for No-Shave November and also help one of our local efforts,” said Police Chief Foti Koskinas.

Public donations are being accepted and can be made in the form of cash or a check made out to Officer Fearon or Officer Scinto of the Westport Police Department. All donations are tax deductible.
