What Makes It Pasta Perfect: It's a slice of Italy in the heart of Fairfield County with pasta that, if you close your eyes, literally tastes like that you'd find at Rome trattoria. Cotto’s owners, Claudio and Silvy Ridolfi, are both from Rome, as are many of the restaurant’s workers. Cotto, which means cooked, or done, in Italian, also offers a cozy, urban hip ambiance, according to Manager Ian Toogood that rivals what you'd find in Rome.

Worth Special Mention: The place prides itself on its Italian tapas meant for leisurely dining. The wine list is international but mainly focused on Italian, with vintages (400-plus!) from almost every region with a heavy emphasis on Tuscany but also Piedmont and other regions. Toogood said the Ridolfi's, who recently move to Stamford from Weston, are at the eatery all the time. "This really is a family restaurant with a lot of love behind it," he said.
