WESTPORT, Conn. – Shake Shack, a restaurant chain with locations in Westport, New York City, Washington D.C. and beyond, ranks at No. 11 on the “101 Best Restaurants In America for 2013” list published by The Daily Meal, a food and drink website.
The list was crafted by editors at The Daily Meal, with help from a panel of more than 170 judges. These judges included food and restaurant critics, food bloggers, chefs, food magazine editors and more.
Shake Shack, best known for its hamburgers, milkshakes and frozen custards, was established by Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group. The original restaurant opened in 2004 in New York’s Madison Square Park.
The Westport location, the first in Connecticut, opened in July 2011 at 1849 Post Road E. Last September, a restaurant opened in downtown New Haven.
Outside of the U.S., there are several Shake Shacks scattered throughout the Middle East. One is expected to open this year in London.
