From January – April, audiences can enjoy monthly staged readings of one-act plays read by professional actors, preceded by a gourmet lunch and followed by discussion with the actors.

Combining raucous humor and edgy drama, the 2016 lineup includes plays by Pulitzer Prize winners like David Auburn, Wendy Wasserstein and Lanford Wilson alongside topical drama by Neil Labute and Lynn Nottage and surprises from newer voices including Kitt Lavoie and Matthew Lopez.

“Our goal is to find small gems that pack a wallop,” said Artistic Director Carole Schweid.

Schweid has found four such winners for the January openings. An excerpt from “Act One,” playwright/director Moss Hart’s award-winning “love letter” to the theater takes us on his journey from rags to riches along the Great White Way. This memoir was turned into a Tony Award winning play in 2014 by James Lapine.

Marital relationships get equal time with James E. Marlow’s “A Second Rapture” and James Thurber’s “Mr. Preble Gets Rid of His Wife.” In Rapture, “he” is going off the deep end and “she” is beginning not to care. American humorist Thurber’s expressive title says it all about his play’s content. Playwright Michael McKeever returns to PWYF with “The Agenda,” a hilarious and topical take on political correctness gone haywire.

Actors James Feurer, Jeremy Funke, Katie Sparer, Kim Squires and Allan Zeller will bring the plays to life.

Lunch will be catered in January by Westport‘s Garelick and Herbs and The Pantry in Fairfield. The lunch buffet opens at noon followed by plays and talkback at 12:30 p.m. and concluding by 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at JIBProductions or by calling box office at 203-293-8729.
