WESTPORT, Conn. -- New Yorker Cartoon Editor Bob Mankoff is coming to Westport.

Mankoff is set to talk about his memoir "How About Never - Is Never Good For You? My Life in Cartoons" at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Westport Library at 20 Jesup Road in Westport.

"The book traces (Mankoff's) love of the craft all the way back to his childhood, when he started doing funny drawings at age eight, and also invites us into the hallowed halls of The New Yorker to show us the soup-to-nuts process of cartoon creation," representatives said in a release. "Mankoff gives us a detailed look not only at his own work but also that of the other talented cartoonists who keep us laughing week after week. And not to be missed: He reveals the secrets to winning the magazine's weekly cartoon-caption contest! The program is free and open to the public, and books will be available for purchase and signing afterwards."

Mankoff was a cartoonist for the New Yorker for 20 years before becoming an editor. He started the online Cartoon Bank, which has every cartoon since the magazine's founding. He is also the author of the book "The Naked Cartoonist: A New Way to Enhance Your Creativity."

"How About Never" contains more than 250 cartoons from Mankoff and other cartoonists, including Saul Steinberg, Carl Rose, and Drew Dernavich.
