WESTPORT, Conn. Avid kayaker, local nature enthusiast and author David Park will join the Friends of Sherwood Island State Park Sunset Lecture Series on Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. He will lead an informal discussion on everything from kayak safety to island wildlife.
Park has been an East Norwalk resident for the past 27 years and is a member of the Norwalk River Watershed Association, which works to improve the quality of water in Long Island Sound, particularly around the Norwalk Islands.
An avid canoeist since his childhood, Park began exploring local waters by kayak 15 years ago. His book, "Kayaking In and Around the Norwalk Islands, was first printed in 2009 and will be available for buying and signing at the event.
The event will be held at the Sherwood Island Nature Center, located in the parks East Beach area. This event is free, and so is parking, after 6 p.m.
