More than 30 Westport Little Leaguers lined up to the sign a team ball to present to the parents of one of their own who died in a car crash just days before.

A crowd of 200 people turned out to honor 10-year-old Perrin Delorey who died in a car crash in upstate New York on Sunday, June 10. His parents were injured while on a visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Perrin was on life-support for one day and then his organs were donated to help others.

The Greens Farms Elementary School fourth-grader loved his team, the Cubs, and loved baseball.

"Perrin has played Westport Little League from an early age, and I and others had the pleasure of coaching him in baseball and other sports," wrote Westport Little League President Jeff Brill. "He exuded all of the qualities that Little League strives to exemplify. He wore #5 on the Cubs, and his teammates loved playing beside him."

Besides presenting his parents, James C. Delorey, 49, and Angela H. Ryan, 47, both of Westport, with the ball, they also hung a banner retiring his number No. 5, and they played their final game of the season.

A wake was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. The funeral service will be at Saint Luke Church on Tuesday, June 19 at 10 a.m.

The Cubs will wear their uniforms, with commemorative No. 5 patches, to the funeral and hand out programs
