WESTPORT, Conn. -- A GoFundMe page has been created to support a Westport family whose teenage daughter was killed in a car crash in Pakistan.

Reda Gul, 19 and a 2016 graduate of Staples High School, was killed in the accident last week. Gul had played on the basketball team and was named one of 19 "Students of the Month" in January 2016.

She is survived by her mother, Nishat; father, Zahoor; and brothers Waqas, 19, and Aayan, 14. Her father worked at the Westport library, and as a taxi driver and handyman. The family lives in Hales Court.

Reda returned to her native Pakistan after graduating from high school to study medicine.  She was living in a private hostel near Islamabad

She died when the car she was riding in overturned on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway. Two other people were injured in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle, Hamza Javed, was arrested following the accident. The other passenger, Pakistan Army Lt. Muhammad Hassan, was shifted to a military hospital and taken into custody by military officials, who are also investigating the incident. The three were on their way to an officers mess hall when the accident took place.

Condolences may be sent to the family at 60 Hales Court, Westport, CT 06880.

Money raised from the GoFundMe page will help the family cover funeral and travel costs. Click here to access the GoFundMe page.
